Marlene Warren is making breakfast for her son when the doorbell rings. Marlene answers and to her delight, she sees a clown holding flowers and balloons. What happens next will change the small Florida town forever.
In 1990 Marlene Warren was shot in the face when she answered the front door of her home in Wellington, Florida. The shooter was dressed as a clown carrying balloons and flowers. Marlene's son gave chase but could not catch the clown.
Marlene and her husband Michael had several businesses and they lived in an exclusive community. However rumours surfaced that they had marital problems as Micheal was cheating on her. No arrests were made at the time although both Michael and Sheila Keen, a woman he reputedly was having an affair with were regarded as suspects.
It was only in 2017 when the cold case was re-opened with advances in DNA technology. Sheila Keen was arrested as the clown killer, she was now married to Michael Warren.
The episode of Unmasked, a true life crime documentary was cheesy and unnecessarily melodramatic. It mixed archive documentary footage with reconstructions that were overacted.
This was a mysterious tale that had a love triangle and shady business dealings. The trouble is, Sheila Keen might had been arrested, she has yet to stand trial. It makes you wonder why not wait until after the trial to show this.
