Kabir (Zaheer Iqbal) stumbles upon the notebook where Firdous (Pranutan Bahl) has penned her most intimate thoughts. He falls in love without ever having known or met her.
You can find love in the most unexpected places and situations. That's what happens to Kabir when he takes up the job to teach at a remote house-boat school in Kashmir. He discovers a notebook that the previous teacher, Firdous used as her diary and he falls in love with her emotions and passions. Featuring a truly innovative concept, Notebook is a film for die-hard romantics. But the film doesn't really do enough with its basic premise. The one-line narrative is interesting, but the screenplay fails to do anything more.
An adaptation of the Thai drama 'The Teacher's Diary' (2014), Notebook makes good use of the talents of its newcomers Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl. The freshness of the lead pair and the exotic Kashmiri setting add visual appeal to the movie. The unusual story of falling in love with someone you've never met holds intrigue for most part of the run time, too. But the movie takes a little too much time to set things up.
The young couple don't meet until the climactic portions of the film and once the high-drama kicks in it feels too little, too late.
The highlights of 'Notebook' are the cinematography, mesmerising visuals of Kashmir are great.
'Notebook' is an easy watch where you can appreciate the humour, drama and romance. But the film leaves you wanting for more. Perhaps with more creativity in writing, this young romantic saga could have achieved more.

The setting of this movie is stunning. It leaves you wanting to be there amongst them. This story embraces everything Indian cinema has been and can continue to be...Romantic. You can fall in love with any element of this movie because it takes you back to a simple life and the appreciation of what would really make you truly happy....not much....nothing materialistic...I am still amazed that the 2 main characters feelings are portrayed so innocently. Perfect and heart touching love. Be it the characters, their journey, the love story and not forgetting the goosebump scenery. What an absolutely beautiful setting. Congrats Salman Khan and to all involved. I will be buying this on DVD as soon as it's released. Last movie I bought was years ago. Says it all. Thank you for touching my heart and making me smile. 10/10

It looked good to me when i watched it's trailer first, then finally i watched it tonight on amazon prime and i loved this movie, salman khan is such big heart person who always give chance to new talents, i m so happy he did that for this movie, lovely story telling, superb cinematography, decent direction and good acting from the new actors, i hope they have good future. in the whole its a sweet feel good movie, go for it

The story is very simple and extremely guessable but GUESS what it somehow manages to please everyone.
First half is slow and tests your patience but the momentum it builds in the climax makes this NOTEBOOK a one time read.

Finally, after a long time I found two debutants doing a fine job! The kids are adorable. They are the heart of the movie. Well written script and screenplay. I loved the dialogues as well, especially the humour involving the kids. The photograohy is top notch and does complete justice to our very own paradise on earth- Kashmir! I wasnt bored at any moment in the film and it left me wanting more of Zaheer and Pranutan. Nitin Kakkar, we want more movies from you. Thank you to Salman Khan for producing this one. You have made the right choice after the Loveyatri and Hero debacle!! Mohnish Behl must he a proud father today. Your daughter is equally good as you always are:)

Direction: Filmistaan fame Nitin Kakkar tried Thai remake with Kashmiri Tadka. However he failed to delivered any thing concrete. Neither it consider as great romantic movie or class in therm of execution.
Performance: Both leading actor- actress is making debut by this movie but chemistry was missing between them. Mir Sarwar looked good in negative role. Rest other star cast did not contributed much in terms of performance.
Script: This is adaptation of Thai movie Teacher's diary which associate lead pair with one notebook. Writers Shabbir Hashmi and Payal Asha took many creative liberties e.g. Notebook submerged into the water but content remained intact.
Music: Vishal Mishra's music was good for audience especially Mohit Chauhan's Safar and Vishal's Nai Lagda.
Cinematography: This is only section which impress the audience. Some virgin location from Kashmir will make you fall in love with those one.
Box-office: It opened with lower figure than expected one as it has earned only 75 lakhs on day 1. It can earn more than 1 crores on Saturday and Sunday but it will be flop at box-office as there is lack of good word of mouth.
Last Words: If you have already watched Kesari, Dumbo and Junglee, go for it otherwise enjoy the IPL.

Some movies are not your typical romantic movies where the protagonists look and fall in love at the first sight ! Some rare ones do not need them to see each other since love is more of an inner spiritual feeling .. this movie falls in the 2nd category .
An official adaptation of a Thai movie , we do not see the protagonists in the same frame till the very last . But that's where its beauty lies !
By reading personal diary of the female lead,our hero comes to know and develops feelings for her . And this is also what even love is all about !! Isn't it ? It may happen at first sight but it's the "lyrics" the frequency , the connection that makes it blossom !!
Parnutan bahl in her debut sparkles , especially in her smiles , leaving a grace reminiscent of her grandmother , the ever affable nutan mam . I especially liked her dialogue delivery n overall persona .
Zaheer as the lead tries to give it his best and succeeds in some moments . Lots to catch up with man.
Adorable are the cutest little tiny tots , 5-6 of them , . They form the backbone of the movie .
Dialogues by sharib hashmi ,( the lead character of director Nitin kakkar's national award winning film) are mostly good .. have potential in them like " a mobile network is seldom found when peace & weather stay fine "..
Direction is top notch and keeps u rooting for the leads .
It may look a purely romantic movie over the surface but has touched upon some issues like militancy in Kashmir , exit of Hindu Kashmiris , education & problems local people feel due to long standing apathy !
But the most moving , infact the most endearing part is the *cinematography", simply outstanding . One to die for ! I have seen such beautiful Kashmir in mainstream movies (laila-majnu dud show some) .. the mornings , the cloud laden skies , the evening setting sun , the reflection of bridges in clear waters , the shikaras cruising through the serene waters of the valley , purely romantic feel ... Kudos to Mohit .. great work..

Usually I gather a lot of courage before watching any SKF Films, since I need to console myself before wasting some precious times of my life.
But this one really came out as a bolt from the blue.
Story telling, narration, direction, filmography, etc etc, everything was perfect. This is my first review provided for any film in any forum.
Let this film be a frame to frame copy of any thai film. But they really did a perfect job and deserves full 10/10

Hyped up movie, such a boring direction the trees in the movie acted better than the actors there. The kashmiris are shown as innocents which is not completely true and the screenplay is worst of all given 3 stars only for the location.

Movie is based on a korean movie, but i love the couple and the movie both. Thanks to SKF banner. For limited promotional activity this movie is under rated. But hats off to the actor and actress for their remarkable acting. Thanks Pranatun and Zaheer.
