Quite good! Better than most American low budget films
annrie_117 December 2020
This was quite a surprise, had elements Of Danny dyers severance but was enjoyable To watch. The one liners from some of the characters was brilliant and so funny

Over I thought it was a much better than some Low budget American films I've recently watched! We decided to view this film after watching a major hollywood flick archenemy and out of the two I would Rather of watch this. The story line was great some of the effect where are you would expect but overall a good watch

Solid and enjoyable if flawed British slasher effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder17 December 2020
Gathering together at a remote cottage, a group of classmates decides to party off the previous nights' festivities with a round of paintball in the local woods, but as the game continues they come to believe the person killing them off one-by-one might be one of them and must try to get out of the situation alive.

There was a lot to like with this one. Among its better features is the generally enjoyable setup that allows this to operate as a rather fun slasher. The setup involving the group returning to the location in order to carry out their reunion and going through the usual series of scenes featured in these types of films gives this a lot to like in the first half. From the job catch-ups and the rekindling romances as well as professional jealousy gives this a nice beginning, and when mixed with the first few paintball games that are played which show the various discrepancies between the teams who are taking it as a joke compared to the other team who are more prepared and serious about it sets a fun starting point. The action here really starts with the realization that the killer is among them and hunting everyone in the group. The discovery of the massacred paintballers in their stronghold offers a fantastic reveal and generates a lot to like with the suddenness of everything getting turned from a fun game into the more deadly situation present, while the later scenes showing the group coming upon the various traps set for them that denote a killer is on the loose offers a nice sense of urgency even if the characters don't agree. The resulting attacks throughout the rest of the woods offer up the kind of fun series of encounters while generating a nice amount of action and gore with plenty of twists and turns to keep the killers' identity a secret, making for a lot to like overall here. This one does have a few issues with it. The main flaw is the overwhelming stupidity and negligence that emerges once the killer first starts striking the group and picking them off. The sheer incredulity to question what's going on and not make out that they're in danger is mind-boggling, as they resort to petty insults and questioning what's going on far longer than they really should in the face of such obvious death and dismemberment around them. It's a rather curious decision to feature that as the group had been fun until then, but it takes the characters into such a different dimension of likability that it's hard to sympathize with and see where they would question the reality of their situation. The other issue here is the surprisingly restrained attitude toward the blood and gore involved. While it makes sense in context why the kills toward the rival paintball team happened off-screen setting up what's going to occur to the other group, having them off-screen is the start of something rather detrimental where the rest of the film features a large number of occurrences happening in that manner. Despite being rather gory, it's all aftermath shots of characters stumbling upon the results which denote something horrific happened to the individual but the actual inciting incident and the confrontation with the killer are missed, resulting in characters stumbling upon their dead friends or seeing them captured and killed without any context. The finale will also be an issue, with these elements all holding it down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

An easy watch with plenty of humour
andybaldwin-0809517 December 2020
Not having any expectations from a low budget film. Was enjoyable and easy to watch. Some good castings and great one liners. If you're expecting massive, multi million pound effects, it won't be for you. If you're an easy watcher and ready for a laugh with a little gore, it ticks all the boxes.

No suspense
ezgolucky17 December 2020
What a terrible movie. No suspense, not anything. Even the "massacre" is lackluster. Stay away from this one.

Watching low budget movies, I try best not to compare it with studio movies. I enjoyed this one

Terrible
coughlanwayne16 December 2020
Its like they just could not be bothered with trying to act as the writing and directing was such poor quality. The ending was similar, they just couldn't be bothered. I feel I could write, direct and act better.

Life is just like Fast and Furious movies without all the racing and fast cars

Warning: Spoilers
Jessica Bentley (Cheryl Burniston ) goes to her class reunion uninvited waiting for her fiance Simon who is a no show. The spend the night and all play paintball the next morning. They are newbies playing against ringers. After a while folks start to die. A killer is on the loose. Who is the killer? Is it Simon or the kid they all bullied in school?

This is a slasher that I enjoyed because of the characters. If you create unique characters that are entertaining, the plot doesn't have to be great. And nice job on the quick cut ending.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Paintball slasher
BandSAboutMovies17 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A bunch of British kids decide to turn their class reunion into a day of fun on the paintball course. However, someone is packing more than paint-based ammunition and is ready to kill them all one-by-one in one of the few slashers I've seen that brings in the sport of, well, paintball.

The first full-length film by Darren Berry, who often works as a cinematographer, this film stars Katy Brand, Robert Portal, Cheryl Burniston, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lockhart Oglive and Natasha Killip. There's even a cameo by Nicholas Vince, who played the Chattering Cenobite in the first two Hellraiser movies.

There's an attempt at humor here, but it kind of fell flat to me. I did like the scene with a mine going off, as I didn't expect the film to have the budget to handle that. Otherwise, your enjoyment of this will depend upon your love of slashers - mine is high, obviously - and your enjoyment of getting plugged with paintballs.

if you like...
ops-5253515 December 2020
To be in the playgrounds sandpit with your friends spraying eachother down with gaspressuredriven painball then this is meat for you. a class reunion weekend gets a fatal fallout as you might sense, and war there is.

its just that its all very flat and mediocre business. the acting, plotting editing, musical score, jokes and tactics and a woman playing the game hiding her rather blossomingly bossom in a bikini , makes a stupid impression to the grumpy old man, who have a wish to attend a game like that before entering the gates of heaven, and i shall do that far better than this.

its of course lots of irony and blackcomedy in this semihorrorslasher that counterweights some of the bad stuff, but most of all its looks like a friendly getogether to make a shootout film in the local forest, on a seemingly moderately filled ''setlabok''or wallet. it does have some fun bits but not more than filling four out of 10 stars. a must see for every paintballer, for the rest its nothing more than...

Decent British Horror Comedy
guyjohnson-0050022 January 2021
Maybe I'm biased but I like filmmakers to wave the flag for Britain, particularity when the finished product is fun and well worth a watch. Paintball Massacre benefits here as it doesn't take itself too seriously and you can tell by the dialogue, which at times raises more than a smirk. I liked it! And it was certainly better than some of the Comedy/Horror genre stuff that arrives on Netflix.

Not a comedy or horror
staunton-gary26 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've read that people are liking this to a slasher movie, it isn't, there's no slashing shown. In fact, there's only one onscreen kill, by an explosion. Horror, nope, suspense is all it is, and that's not plentiful. Comedy, no, although Natasha Killip (Lauren) did provide a couple of funny lines. This is more like a whodunnit, but it's left up to you to work out who actually did it, so there's no big reveal, except two hand gestures. If you want to kill 92 minutes, I suppose this is ok. I'm not recommending this to anybody.

Low budget British Horror Comedy at its best
wkrumbd25 February 2021
Not a blockbuster budget, but what it lacks in budget has been made up by the bucket load of one liners and great acting by the cast.

Well worth a night in front of the box, get your popcorn ready.
