This was the first episode of this season which drew me in
7 July 2019 | by eyeMDbeeSee all my reviews

I am very patient with slow starts - even like them if they make room for a crescendo later in the show, but I have to say that the first 3 episodes made me question where this is going.

So I was glad to find that Jessica finally is not clue-less wandering about anymore and I changed my frame of mind away from superhero-action towards getting an old-scool detective story here. I am quite happy with that (and the themesong supports it).

The only thing I am not happy about is that this isn't just a super-hero show which happens to have a female lead (which I am more than happy about), but that this also - as currently promoted in Hollywood turns out to be a feministic "female empowerment" series where all people in power, such as the wealthy lawyer and action-heroes are only female characters - now even featuring a second woman with "powers" (whatever they are supposed to be).

I think in this day and age there is a great misunderstanding of a woman considered to be "strong" when she can perform everything a man can. This won't end in favour of women's real power because by doing so they loose a lot of their female qualities like femininity, intuition, sensitivity or tranquility.

I will enjoy watching the rest of this season, but have to say that overall I find it a bit slow.
