Cathy Ryan walks through her house, a tossed over mess since the search warrant. Richy Ryan helps with the kids. She scrambles to answer the phone. Tommy Hayes is calling to say he is sorry, Cathy is furious cursing him out, Tommy pleads that Jimmy is the rat. In a van cops listen in by wiretap.
At a full police funeral for Hank Signa, Amazing Grace sounds by a bagpiper. Jackie Rohr wheels up, gets a call and tells the other party to pick up Tommy Hayes. Ward glares at Rohr, who retreats to his car. In Western New York a squad of FBI arrest Hayes in a motel room.
At the wake after the cops share drinks. Ward steps out of the bar to see Rohr on the sidewalk, slightly drunk. Jackie gives Decourcy a flask with a quote by Muhammad Ali etched on, saying it was found in Hank's effects. Ward is sad for trusting Rohr. Jackie has a personal anecdote about growing up wondering how blacks can sing happily in church. Both men separate taking deep bites from their flasks. Back in the bar Rachel is still angry with Jackie.
Jackie meets the US Attorney and recommends they let Suffolk County have the Ryans. The Feds will take the glory for the arrests but Jackie asks to let Ward handle the trial, so he can have some good press too. The US Attorney agrees as a favor to be owed by Jackie.
Jimmy Ryan tells Ward he wants blanket immunity. Rey and Benham watch the interview, Rey thinks Ward is trying to solve everything. In the interview room Jimmy thinks he has the upper-hand as Ward needs him to close the three dead guards. Later Jackie comes to see Jimmy in the cells, wondering what he told Ward. Jackie makes a veiled threat but Jimmy counters with threats to talk about FBI informants and the Bulgers. Jackie leaves cursing.
In a drizzle Jackie meets Jenny, she wonders how he was able to cheat on her, she couldn't even do it. Jackie claims he is tormented by his sins and self-loathing.
Rachel comes to see Rey with a photocopy, she has learned the FBI is selling the guns taken in the Fall River arrests. Rey says it is common, the Signa family will get a share of the proceeds, all families accept the money.
Jenny waits for her mother Rosa, she fiddles with another of Rosa's model planes. Jenny slowly winds up her anger and both women hurl the past at each other. Jenny blames her mother for her life and starts breaking the model planes. Jenny then demands Rosa get out and tells her to leave by tomorrow.
Jackie goes to see Decourcy, prepping for the trial. Jackie says it will be easy but Ward wonders how to get the three Revere guards into the case. Jackie says to lie, steal, cheat to get what he wants and has another anecdote. Ward asks if Jimmy Ryan should be given immunity, Jackie says not to as Jimmy is unreliable.
Rachel comes to see Ward, saying he is working too hard. Ward asks her what she has on Jackie, and asks if he should give Jimmy immunity. She says to do the opposite of what Jackie says.
In Court, Ward has Jimmy on the stand. Jimmy admits to many robberies and then stuns everyone by saying Frankie killed the guards in Revere. Frankie's lawyer gets a recess. Frankie tells the lawyer to ask Jimmy about Kelly Kinicki, hoping Jimmy will perjure himself and lose his immunity. Under cross, Jimmy is asked about Kinicki, everyone is puzzled by the questions, Jimmy then stuns the court again by admitting he killed Kelly, who was a State Police CI. Jackie hides a slight grin.
Later Ward is upset with Jimmy and wonders if Jackie knew.
Cathy Ryan goes home after the trial, Babsie Kinicki arrives noisily blaming Cathy, the women fight on,the sidewalk, Cathy gives better than she gets, putting down the other woman with a bloody face and an earful, as her three kids watch in silence.
Jackie again goes to see Jimmy thanking him for the amusement but still leaving a threat.
Cathy brings Kick to Court for Frankie's verdict. He is guilty on several counts and briefly slumps, then walks tall out of the courtroom. Outside, Kick says she saw Uncle Jimmy kill Kinicki. Cathy tries to explain the system how Jimmy gets off and Frankie goes to jail, but it's now just them having to survive. Jimmy is being driven away by a racist cop who is impressed how Jimmy conned the DA. Kick spits at the car as it goes past.
Outside Jackie's hotel Rosa arrives to tell him Jenny kicked her out, she wants his help. Jackie laughs at her and won't help, he jokingly tells her she can be a street hooker, leaving her forlorn and all alone.
Ward has a shower and takes a call, his campaign manager is stepping aside as Ward will be getting lot of bad press for the Ryan immunity. Ward is depressed, Siobhan tells him to pick himself up and work harder, she loves him.
Jackie is regaling the FBI about the Fall River arrests at Salvy Clasby's retirement pub night. He staggers out with Clasby after, both drunk. Clasby warns Rohr he was actually forced to retire due to problems with a CI. Jackie's car is trashed with Chinese script and lipstick markings. He calls someone, another CI, and gets the location of another car close by. They find the red sedan, Clasby gets the keys from the wheel well, starting the car it begins to smoke. They lift the hood, Rohr bursts out laughing at the failed car bomb. Clasby wanders away shaking his head, Jackie remains laughing.
Decourcy comes to Nathan Rey's office and offers to resign. As an alternative, Ward has some creative ideas to spin the Ryan cases, Rey tells him to knock off the BS and get back to work. He then goes to see Chris Caysen, suggesting they will work closely on drug and gun cases. Rachel pops by and has a private word with Ward. She gives him her file on Jackie, circumstantial evidence on his crimes and misdemeanors.
Ward goes to see Jackie at Jm Curley's Bar for a drink. Jackie has another anecdote about the former Boston Mayor. Decourcy teases Jackie by hinting Jimmy Ryan told him some things. He gives Hank Signa's flask with the Ali quote back to Jackie.
