Trivia

In an interview in the March 8, 2019 New York Times, documentary filmmaker Todd Douglas Miller stated that his crew had their own mission rules regarding the footage used in the film: ""We did have kind of our own mission rules. We said, if it didn't happen on that day at that specific time, we're not using it."

He did say that he did break this rule on several occasions, using shots from Apollo 8's propulsive push rather than Apollo 11's but that he would document where he used different clips from other launches. See more »

Goofs

When the returning Apollo 11 blasts away from moon orbit, there is a dual visual display showing elapsed rocket burn time and spacecraft speed. The speed rapidly increases to just over 5500 mph during the rocket burn, and then the rocket cuts off. But the speed continues to increase for a few more moments. In reality, the speed would have stopped increasing the instant the rocket cut off. See more »

Best footage yet.
1 March 2019 | by pismo10See all my reviews

Saw the Apollo 11 IMAX film last night. Highly recommend. No narration just the NASA announcer, communications between ship and ground plus a few other bits added such as Walter and JFK now and then. Images are amazing, esp in IMAX. It moves well, no slow moments, no soap opera, no agenda, lots of unseen footage and some new stories, pure documentary, the trip is the whole story. PDI is great, TLI is great, LM separation, footage of the crowd is great. Go see, you wont be disappointed. 90 minutes long.
