- TriviaCattle bloat is a seasonal problem in both dairy and beef cattle and occurs when lush legume pasture species (especially clover and alfalfa) in spring is consumed . Bloat is caused by an increase in the gas pressure within the rumen (paunch or stomach) as these feeds are fermented. The gas cannot be belched up normally and death results from the pressure causing heart and lung failure. The gas is often trapped in the form of a stable foam. As illustrated in the episode. the gas was vented by creating a make-shift rumen fistula (hole or a surgical port, or portal, to the stomach).

Malcolm Beck: Don't you want to have your lawyer present?
John Dutton: This don't feel like a lawyer meeting.
Teal Beck: I saw your son go against Peabody Coal before the Senate. He's one hell of a litigator.
John Dutton: Yeah, he can argue with the best of them. So, what's this problem?
Malcolm Beck: A casino in this valley will have a negative affect on our business. Your ranch and the others.
Teal Beck: In five years, how many ranches like this can afford to exist?
Malcolm Beck: Wanna hear our guess. Soon as that casino opens, they'll approach the Forest Service for land lease. And they'll build a ski resort.
Teal Beck: And you know as well as anyone, ski resorts are daggers to the heart for places like this.
Malcolm Beck: It'll be an ocean of second homes in ten years.
John Dutton: I'm aware.
Malcolm Beck: I'm sure you are. Look, my office has no authority over an Indian casino.
Teal Beck: And yours has no authority over the land. And your new AG can't restrict them. That's why we need to fight this outside the lines, Mr. Dutton. And we just don't think they got the stomach for that.
John Dutton: Yeah, well they have the stomach for it. I don't need partners, fellas.
Teal Beck: Dan Jenkins has a partner. A big one.
Malcolm Beck: Think of us as allies. We'd be the perfect allies for each other, John. Because there is no part of your business that benefits ours. And vice versa.
Teal Beck: And when we fight, it's a zero-sum game. We will win. At any cost.
John Dutton: Yeah.
Malcolm Beck: John... we just want you to consider it.
John Dutton: I consider every option, Malcolm. And I choose the one that's best for my family. If it helps you, it's a coincidence.
Rip Wheeler: That's not the way you wear one of those.
Jamie Dutton: Working with them is a deal with the devil, Dad.
John Dutton: All the angels are gone, son. There's only devils left.

"Only Devils Left" was a 4th episode of season 2 and it was the best one so far. Everything was superb here - story, storytelling, acting, writing and directing. This episode was like a little good movie - many good things put into 45 standout minutes. After kinda slow start of the season 2, this one really kicked things out in a great way. Can't wait to see more.
