EXUVIA is a coming-of-age drama by writer/director Anthony Harrison that lingers on landscapes and explores the depths of existential sorrow. It is difficult to let go of the darker memories; shed the old and ugly skin of our past so that we might move forward. This struggle is shared one summer by the insightful, brilliant, but socially challenged ten-year-old, Hunter Clarke (Rémi-Gaël Panon) and the dangerously unpredictable Melina Shadrova (Katherine Alpen). As their relationship develops beyond nanny and child each of them begins to understand that defining the future means first dealing with the past. Melina struggles to deal with a childhood lost within the years of caring for and repeatedly rescuing her heroin-addicted mother. For Hunter, it means finding his place in the world; shedding the skin of a lonely child, targeted and isolated for his advanced intellect.
