Storyline

The story is about Ghosts who are rendered homeless as all the old haunted buildings in Kolkata have been converted into multi-storied buildings, malls and multiplexes. Their very existence is at stake. Some of them, from varied social-economic background, take shelter is a disused dilapidated single-screen theatre. They plan to make themselves relevant and fit for the future as contemporary ghosts. This is a scathing political satire, full of fun, music and action. Written by Anik Dutta

A YouTube spoof video stretched into a film
29 July 2020 | by paularjyarishiSee all my reviews

The humour is as pretentious as most Bangali buddhi-bichis themselves. Mostly because there's this blatant show of smug intellectualism - "look I'm the director and I'm oh-so-smart"- almost all the frames try to shove this idea down your throat.

Some of the jokes do land and the wit is appreciable. There are glimpses of potential tragicomic characters like the out-of-work typist's ghost but they're sadly there as mere passing-mentions.

This is what you get when you stretch a YouTube spoof video into a two-hour film - a string of cocky one-liners, puns and typically 'aantel' humour tied together with little story and lesser soul.

It was, like its predecessor, supposed to be a horror-comedy with satirical socio-cultural & socio-political subtexts. All it ends up being, is a late-night WhatsApp group-chat among stoned JU students.
