In court, the retired cop Donald Vantomme is questioned. He conducted the Brechtje Vindevogel murder investigation between 2000 and 2016, but was taken off the case because he was getting nowhere.

Police officer Donald Vantomme has failed years on end in his investigation for the murder on Brechtje Vindevogel. His colleague Eliane Pascual joined the investigation much later and directed the inquires in the right direction. The jury members try to organize their own lives with that of the trial. The ethical Joeri finds himself in a dilemma in his construction company and Delphine has problems with her dominant husband.—Rune Thandy

It was thought he had concentrated too narrowly on the cattle farmers. Donald bears witness along with the current Commissioner of the Federal Judicial Police, Helen Pascual. Her fears however become reality: Donald makes a lousy impression. We discover that he has accepted a bribe to continue to look for her murderer among the cattle farmers.
