In court, the retired cop Donald Vantomme is questioned. He conducted the Britt Vogel murder investigation between 2000 and 2016, but was taken off the case because he was getting nowhere. It was thought he had concentrated too narrowly on the cattle farmers. Donald bears witness along with the current Commissioner of the Federal Judicial Police, Helen Pascual. Her fears however become reality: Donald makes a lousy impression. We discover that he has accepted a bribe to continue to look for her murderer among the cattle farmers.
