The only lore pictured (somewhat) correctly is the piece with Mr. Hanus getting his eyes burned out and breaking the orloj afterwards as an act of vengeance. Even in this legend (debunked long time ago) he didn't throw himself into the clock. The rest of the story is completely made up by the screenwriter. See more
