Lister faces a heart-breaking decision as Ann Walker's mental state takes an alarming downturn.
Anne Lister is heartbroken and also injured after being physically attacked by a thug presumably hired by one of her business rivals.
This episode concentrates on the mental deterioration of Ann Walker. All those homophobic voices telling her that she is doing wrong, committing a scene has left her a wreck.
Despite their break up Anne Lister rushes to her side but despite Ann wanting to be with Lister she cannot commit to her. It is decided that Ann Walker will convalesce in Scotland.
The business side of the episode is a bit of weak link. The coal mining story just seems to be going round in circles and begins to drag the rest of the story.
