Trivia

The only reason Mulaney enters the stage through the giant floor lift is because he wanted to see if Radio City would actually let him use it- when they did, he used it as the opening to his act. See more »

Quotes

John Mulaney: I'm getting grumpy, which I don't like, I don't like any new songs. I don't like any new songs. 'Cause every new song is about how 'tonight is the night', and how 'we only have tonight'. That's a message in 90% of songs, that's such 19-year-old garbage. I wanna songs for people in their 30s, called 'tonight's no good, how about Wednesday?' '... oh, you're in Houston on Wednesday?... oh ok, then let's just not see each other for 6 months, and it doesn't matter at all'.

Just as funny and endearing as his two former Netflix comedy specials, this latest from John Mulaney will delight his fans and surely win him a slew of new ones. If you've seen either "New in Town" or "The Comeback Kid," then you have a pretty good sense of what you'll find here, and I mean that in a good way: Mulaney's delivery remains solid and charming, his timing is damn near impeccable, and his conversational performance style makes the experience relatable and memorable. Here, Mulaney takes on a variety of topics, from his years working as a writer on "Saturday Night Live" to his experience attending college, but it's really his political material in the latter half of the special that demarcates the routine as something special - without succumbing to facile insults, the comedian manages to lacerate the current American political landscape by addressing himself to the audience as a composite instead of a fragmented binary, and the result is surprisingly cathartic.
