Based upon the music by legendary Swedish artist Tomas Ledin, "En del av mitt hjärta" is a musical comedy about Isabella, a driven business woman and a real hot shot within the Stockholm finance world. When she returns to her small hometown to celebrate her father's 60th birthday she feels like a winner compared to her old classmates, being the only one who actually made something of herself. Isabella's confidence is shaken when she realizes that Simon, her big teenage crush, is marrying her childhood friend Molly and that she isn't even invited to the wedding. Used to always getting what she wants, she can't help but explore these feelings she still has for Simon, with the reluctant help of her childhood friend Edwin, who is secretly in love with Isabella.
A piece of my heart (En del av mitt hjärta in Swedish) is a Swedish rom-com which looks like your typical Hallmark movie only somehow filmed in Swedish language. Businesswoman Isabella (beautiful, blonde) returns to her native town and runs into her ex-boyfriend Simon (handsome, blonde). Suddenly she realizes she's still in love with him. But Simon loves Molly (sharp, shoves the cake into Isabella's pretty face) and there's Edwin who loves Isabella.
Well...where to start? Some plot twists are really silly. The whole story involving Edwin and his unhealthy relationships with his mother is embarrassing and made me scream. Some actors are too old for their parts. Don't they have young actors in Sweden? Jonas Karlsson is 50 but he plays a 30-something guy. What on earth is it supposed to mean? At least some songs are good, the views of rural Sweden are great and costumes are lavish.
