Dave Bautista's My Spy has been pushed back to 2020. No official release date has been announced, but Stx Entertainment will more than likely reveal the new date soon. Dave Bautista’s Stx Comedy ‘My Spy’ Pushed to 2020 (Exclusive)
Dave Bautista’s action comedy “My Spy” has been moved off of its August 23 release date, numerous individuals familiar with the film’s studio, Stx Films, told Variety.

The family-centric tale about a hardened CIA operative and his unlikely 9-year-old sidekick is seeking a new date in the first quarter of 2020. It could open as early as January, one of the insiders said. An Stx spokesperson had no comment.

Footage from the project, which is directed by Peter Segal, played well to movie theater owners at CinemaCon in April, and drew comparisons to the Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Kindergarten Cop.” Producers and the studio are said to have full faith in the film but wanted some time between this and the buddy comedy “Stuber,” which opens Friday and also co-stars Bautista.

Stx is trying to find its footing after a material loss of tens of millions on the original animated franchise hopeful “UglyDolls,

Can ‘Stuber’ or ‘Crawl’ Find an Audience in ‘Spider-Man’-Dominated Box Office?

  • The Wrap
Can ‘Stuber’ or ‘Crawl’ Find an Audience in ‘Spider-Man’-Dominated Box Office?
The new release slate for this weekend’s box office consists of two smaller budget films: Disney/Fox’s action-comedy “Stuber” and Paramount’s horror film “Crawl.” But in a month dominated by “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and “The Lion King” coming next weekend, it could be a struggle for either film to garner much attention.

“Stuber” is the third 20th Century Fox film distributed by Disney since the two studios merged this past spring, following “Breakthrough” and “Dark Phoenix.” It is also the first R-Rated film distributed by Disney in six years, the last being the DreamWorks/Participant Media biopic “The Fifth Estate.” Independent trackers are currently projecting an opening for the film at around $15 million. The film premiered at SXSW in March, and has received mixed reviews with a 44% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

For “Stuber’s lead star, Dave Bautista, the film marks a new stage in the actor’s rapidly rising career.

Dave Bautista Would ‘Rather Do Good Films’ Instead of ‘Fast & Furious’

  • The Wrap
Dave Bautista Would ‘Rather Do Good Films’ Instead of ‘Fast & Furious’
If there were any “Fast & Furious” or WWE fans hoping to see Dave Bautista share the screen with The Rock and John Cena, the retired wrestler-turned-actor has some bad news for you.

On Twitter, Bautista responded to a tweet suggesting that Cena and Dwayne Johnson might star in a “Fast & Furious” spinoff together in the future. After all, Johnson will get such a spinoff later this summer with “Hobbs and Shaw,” while Cena has just starting shooting on “Fast & Furious 9,” which will come out in 2020.

But when the fan suggested he play the villain in a hypothetical Rock/Cena spinoff, Bautista quickly shut that down with a tweet that featured two puke emojis, a sarcastic “thank you for your consideration,” and the hashtag #idratherdogoodfilms.

Dave Bautista Rejects Starring in ‘Fast and Furious’ Movies: ‘I’d Rather Do Good Films’
Dave Bautista isn’t one to mince words on social media, and that was certainly true when it came to sharing his thoughts on the “Fast and Furious” franchise. A fan recently pitched the “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor an idea about playing the villain in a potential “Fast and Furious” spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and John Cena, who was recently added as a new cast member to “Fast and Furious 9.” Bautista wasn’t having it.

Bautista sarcastically responded to the idea by writing, “Thank you for your consideration,” adding two “throw-up” emojis. If it wasn’t already clear, Bautista threw down shade by using the hashtag: “I’d rather do good films.”

The “Fast and Furious” franchise was back in the news this week as production on the ninth film kicked off, with franchise mainstay Vin Diesel sharing several set videos from the start of filming. The “Fast and Furious

Dave Bautista Confirms He Talked With James Gunn About Joining The Suicide Squad

We all knew a year ago that Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista was director James Gunn’s biggest supporter when Gunn was unexpectedly fired from the franchise by Disney. Bautista threatened to leave the franchise if Gunn weren’t reinstated and wagered his own career in support of the Guardians helmer. Gunn has since been rehired, and all is right with the Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming sequel that is due out in 2021.

In the time the film was on hiatus and no one knew what would be come of the director or its stars, Gunn was hired by Warner Bros. to direct The Suicide Squad, and there was a lot of talk at the time about Bautista following his friend over and being cast in that film. In a recent interview with THR, Bautista confirmed that rumor. He said they did have conversations about the film,
