It lives up to my expectations and more, it's full of easter eggs, direct references to previous (and possibly future) seasons, incredible dialogue, and just great interactions between the characters.
Nora is surrounded with mystery and intrigue, I think she will be a really fun character to be around with for more episodes. Also, I LOVE that they're fixing Barry's writing, he was written as such a dunce last season. Now he's like he used to be, experienced, smart, and ready for anything (apart from lighthearted).
Iris has also been toned down a bit, thank you writers, hopefully she'll be like-able one day again.
With a frenetic pacing, great action and use of special effects, an intriguing storyline and a format that hasn't been used on the show before makes for a very unique episode and strong premiere.
I am so excited for what is to come this season, it looks to be really promising and full of theories and fan service. It appears to be a return to form, and Season 1-2 greatness.
I would rate this episode a 9.3/10
Most of the crew are back with new member "Excess" aka Nora Allen who fits in really well to the new dynamic.
No sign of Harrison Wells yet though, not sure what awaits when he does appear this year.
The story for this ep is not too involved and the purpose is to fully introduce Nora who I hope is going to stay for most of the season.
The new Flash suit is also a main talking point for this ep, Barry has finally got the suit ring!!!!
Brilliant episode, hope this continues for Season 5 as Season 4 took me ages to get through and didn't like the story arc last year.
A strong 8 out of 10 offering here. Enjoy!
Nora is a great addition to the show, as I really like her character and the chemistry she had with Barry was great. Their scenes together are a particular highlight of this episode. Nora seemed to have an issue with Iris, which I'm not a fan of and don't want this to develop into a mother/daughter drama that is around all season long.
They finally look like they're going to tackle the "Flash missing vanishes in crisis" storyline that we've seen on the newspaper since season one. We learn that since gone missing, Barry has not returned to CC in 25 years! What happened? Can't wait to find out.
At the end we get a glimpse of what could potentially be the main villain. Interested to see more of this character.
And now the suit. I love the colour and the material. But the chin strap needs to be back ASAP.
Overall a really good start to Season 5, fingers crossed it continues.
Oh btw where's Tom Cavanagh??
Good to see Singh and CCPD. But OF COURSE, team flash is out investigating instead of the actual CCPD guy on the team.
Nora is a selfish, immature child who thinks all things Flash are automatically hers and making messes everywhere. She's definitely her parents' child.
Is Joe a run-away dad now? Not that I blame him if Cecile has no respect for other people's privacy.
Wally still gets no love: Barry thanks Nora in front of Wally but he doesn't thank Wally. WTH?!
Barry seems to be a tad smarter this ep. Probably won't last though.
Oh look, slow burn KF plot still slow burning.
Ralph did have a point about his interpretation of "Harry is from Earth 2"...
Lack of Harry and sidelining Joe shrank team flash and made them (ie Cisco, Caitlin & Ralph) more relevant and fun. Hope this season's Harry is off screen for a couple of more eps, and if Joe isn't going to be a cop, then he can continue to stay on the bench aka The Lounge.
This bears repeating: Put. The. Chin. Piece. Back. NOW.
Already a massive jump in quality from one of the show's worst episodes ever made (the season 4 finale) to an episode that matches s01/s02's quality. I'm definitely satisfied and for the first time in a year, looking forward to the next episode.
Side Note: Also Ralph's comedic moments are fantastic.
