Storyline

Fifteen years after her son's murder, Nurse Anna Dean arrives at Edinburgh High Court for the start of a major court case - but who is on trial? Six months previously, on Halloween, bus driver Craig Myers is viciously attacked and discovers he has been accused online of being the notorious child murderer Eddie J. Turner. The investigation into the online post and the subsequent attack uncovers evidence that Detective Inspector Grover believes incriminates Anna - but senior officers seem intent on blocking his enquiries. Meanwhile the first day of court proceedings brings Craig and Anna face to face and raises the question - is Craig really Eddie, or is this a case of mistaken identity?

An excellent start to this compelling drama.

I would class this opening episode as superb. It's a fascinating story, with twists, turns, and an unexpected narrative.

It asks the question here, who exactly is the Victim? A dead child, the mother, or the man named as the child's killer and heavily beaten.

It's interesting in that we get a glimpse at the Scottish legal system, comparing the differences to the rest of the UK.

Kelly MacDonald and John Hannah shine through. 9/10
