Sunny Leone was born in Canada to deeply conservative Sikh parents as Karenjit Kaur (Rysa Saujani). Growing up, 1994, in Canada, she was religious & obedient. She would frequently sing hymns at the local Gurudwara. She wasn't particularly beautiful looking girl and had a bushy, caterpillar eyebrow. Karenjit is looking forward to her high-school prom. But her parents also force her like to wear her mom's dress at her prom & to generally not stand out. Karenjit says that her mom Balwant Kaur Vohra's (Grusha Kapoor) dress looks like a funeral dress and wants a new one. Karenjit's father is Jaspal Singh Vohra (Bijay Anand).

Karenjit works hard to earn the $60 she needs for the new prom dress. She distributes newspapers, walks dogs, crushes grapes, paints fences, distributes pamphlets, sells lemonade from a stand and so on. She But then her mom is furious at her that the dress is too revealing and forces her to go in the old dress that she offered initially. Karenjit is furious as she doesn't find anything wrong with the dress at all. Karenjit spends the prom alone as nobody would dance with her.

In 2003, Karenjit is a porn-star in LA and is operating under the alias Sunny Leone and is named Penthouse Pet of the Year. Her brother Sundeep (Karamvir Lamba) is selling her autographed pics for $30 a pic. Sundeep is a student and is selling the pics to help meet tuition and living expenses. Even cops are buying these pics. In 2003, Karenjit tells her parents about her new profession. Sundeep starts off by saying that Karenjit earned a $100,000. Balwant is proud of Karenjit, but she reveals that she is the Penthouse Pet of the Year. Her mother didn't understand, but her father understood the full meaning of what Karenjit said. Sundeep says in after-thought that after this revelation, the entire mood of the house changed completely.

In 2016, in Mumbai she is interviewed by a serious new channel and a reputed journalist Anupam Choubey (Raj Arjun). Anupam doesn't like the fact that a serious journalist like him has been asked to interview a porn-star. His interview guest list includes the who's who of India's power brokers including Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Shah Rukh Khan, Narayan Murthy, Kiran Bedi, Priyanka Chopra, and Narendra Modi.

Anupam explores Sunny's journey from a porn-star to a Bollywood star. Sunny says that Karenjit is a human being and Sunny is a brand that she has created. Anupam asks Karenjit if she sees any difference between a prostitute and a porn-star.

The courage and maturity of her answer floors Anupam. She tells Anupam that it takes a lot of guts for a prostitute to stand under a streetlight with empty pockets and still look tempting enough to take home. She says that people have no idea of the circumstances that make a woman resort to prostitution and that they should not judge. A lot of the women don't have a choice. A porn star has a choice of doing something that they are passionate about, and even enjoy. Even the producer of the show admires Sunny's guts and calm in answering Anupam's questions
