Storyline

The year was 1940. - Winston Churchill had just become Prime Minister when Germany launched their attack westward - and the nightmare of a second world war became reality. The British Expeditionary Force had already been deployed in support of France and Belgium when advancing Nazi forces threatened to surround them. Their best chance of evading defeat would be a strategic withdraw to Dunkirk, while still in the midst of battle. The risks of an evacuation were high and time was short as a national call to prayer sounded in England. Narrated by Stuart Burgess, this inspiring docu-drama features animated maps and original film footage of war-time events. Christian propaganda dressed up as a documentary
7 November 2018 | by ericarthur-94229See all my reviews

The first ten minutes are much the same as many other documentaries, talking heads cut between archive film and low cost recreations by actors who don't seem to be trying too hard for this gig. Then "providence" and "prayer" start to creep in and by the half hour the talking heads are quoting books of the bible.

Unless you're keen to be told that God looked over the mother of all retreats instead of why God allowed the rise of the Nazis in the first place, look elsewhere for your Dunkirk history. This story is about God, not the men who lived and died.
