How the "Servant" Cast Kept Things Light on Set

To deal with the heavy subject matter of "Servant," cast members Rupert Grint, Nell Tiger Free, Lauren Ambrose, and Toby Kebbell made an Ariana Grande music video.

Unscoreable so far (episode 4).
10 December 2019 | by allnewsuperfakeSee all my reviews

While technically being everything it sets out to be, with masterclass direction and a suprisingly effective cast, the writing has been in a downward spirale since the first two episodes. It could be a well crafted net of interconnected little mysteries with one huge, all revealing twist in the end. But it could also turn out to be the writer struggling to get a hold of the plot after establishing the set pieces.

What is to supposedly the big secret could very well be the author throwing whatever ideas he has into the mix until he comes up with a conclusion that will inevitably fit one of the many clues left on the way among a pile of dead ends and red herrings.

The character's behavior and their decisions have become increasingly erratic. Their realitionsships, relying on almost classic stereotypes at the beginning, have gone the same way. At the same time obvious filler material has seeped into the episodes, using worn out little tricks to shock the audience and damaging the so far perfectly built atmosphere.

I'm still halfway optimistic that this is just a byproduct of a thin story stretched over 10 episodes with a great finish, but it could go either way right now.
