We've been spoilt.
27 June 2019 | by MychosenamewastakenSee all my reviews

We've had so many great, astounding, unbelievable crime documentaries released in the last 30-40 years. With the tide of netflix and its recent releases which include many new, uncanny stories, this documentary just dosen't quiet hold enough interest, enough twists and turns, enough "holy crap moments" to hold out short attention spans for very long. Is it an interesting enough story? Sure. Does it compare to previous documentaries in the genre, such as making a murderer, the thin blue line, a murder in the park etc? No, not even close..

This particular story was so stock standard I'm surprised it was picked up for development at all. I guess netflix is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel in its never-ending attempt to profit from anything it possibly can, regardless of ethnic.

I'm always on the lookout for new crime documentaries and documentary series. But as previously mentioned, this one didn't live up to my expectations. It was bland and terribly executed. A real mess. The story was dragged out to the last inch in an attempt to make it seem more interesting then it is. Too many times I checked to see how far along through the episode I was due to boredom.

Is it worth watching? That depends on the viewer. If you're a rabid true crime fan like myself, you may get something out of this (even though i personally did not) otherwise, you may, like myself, find it to be a chore to get through.

Like many true crime documentaries now days, far too much time was spent on aesthetics. Too much time was spent on the producers opinions and the opinions of people who had nothing interesting or relevant to say, who had no valid input. Too much fuzz. Too little to keep you interested.

The thing that really worried and bothered me the most, was the wildly sexist speculations concerning "women staying in their place or else.." it literally came out of no where and was so jarring it actually stunned me. My mouth opened and I was in a state of shock. I can't believe they put that kind of malicious garbage into the documentary. It literally had nothing to do with the story.. at all, not even in the slightest. Absolutely disgraceful to use the murder of these girls as a platform to attack men and make it about sexism. It has nothing to do with the case at all and was just shameful and apaling to behold. I am disgusted. Physically disgusted. I'm also very worried that they can draw, with impunity, wild conclusions that have absoloutely NO basis in reality and just kind of paste it into the documentary as if that is the answer to the whole story. For that, this documentary loses the few points i was willing to give it. Now, it gets 1/5 stars instead of the 2.5/5 i was going to give it.

Gender violence.. unbelievable. The bill passed unopposed in that backwards excuse for a country. We are so terrified of the feminists now days that no one said a word out of fear of being labled a biggot and having their lives destroyed for not falling in line with the zealots. There is no such think and gender violence... It's just violence. Would it be gender violence if a woman beat or killed a man? Of course not. No it would just be violence and it would be ignored, and that my friends is hypocrisy at a criminal level. We are rapidly heading down a very scary and dark path on which it is becoming impossible to turn back from, and i for one am terrified.

Sorry Netflix, but you're just milking it now and it's getting sad and pathetic.
