Decent, but VERY overrated
24 February 2019 | by OlicosmicSee all my reviews

As someone who's never really cared for shooters (with the exception of the amazing Splatoon games), I was really curious as to what the hell the hype surrounding this game was about. Mix that with seeing that this is a free game definitely made me give it a shot. And, for a free game, it's definitely not bad. But, the fact that there are so many players of this game is kind of baffling to me considering how bare bones it can be. I will say that the gameplay, overall, is good, and the building mechanic is well implemented. The visuals have a cartoony charm to them, which is definitely not a bad thing. But, besides that, it's all very meh. I get that it's solely a Battle Royale game, but what surprised me was how slow going it can be. When I first booted up this game, I was expecting some fast paced shooting action. Instead, what I got was a strategic shooter that requires you to critically think about what to do next, whether it be running around the huge map or building forts for protection. This, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing, but for something that I was expecting to more fast paced and more fun can sort of come off as a bit of a letdown. In short, I just got bored with it. Overall, I wasn't that huge of a fan of this game. I can't necessarily say it's bad, as it is free, and for as many people that are playing it now, I'm positive someone who hasn't played it yet now will have a great time once they give it a shot. But, I can't help but feel that this game is VERY overrated. Despite that, it's still a decent game that'll always have it's fans, and the fact that it is free really does help it being passable, even if it's nothing extraordinary whatsoever.
