In the mid-1970s Charles Shobhraj is a gem dealer in Bangkok. However with his girlfriend and another accomplice he is responsible for the murders of scores of tourists. His crimes go unnoticed until a Dutch diplomat starts investigating the disappearance of two Dutch tourists.Written by
I like the look of this, I have no problems with the back and forth timeline. My biggest problem: the cast!
Why cast 4 Brits to play a Dutch, a Belgian, a German and a Quebecois?
The guy playing Knippenberg has to use a horrible fake Dutch accent all the time, not to mention the few actual lines in Dutch, that he just butchers. At least "Belgian guy" keeps to a generic British accent, that is far less grating. The German accent comes and goes, as does the Quebecois...a mess. They did cast 2 Dutch actors to play 2 Dutch victims, so why???
