Danny is shown suffering from financial difficulty. As a Detective First Grade, not only could he afford a decent razor, but so much more. A Detective/First has pay equivalent to a uniform Lieutenant. Based upon his time on the job and in grade, he would be making well over $100,000 per year w/o overtime and in addition would have considerable income due to Linda's death, such as Social Security benefits as a surviving widower. Since he has lived in the same home for a long time, his expenses would be fixed in that respect and his payments would be relatively low due to the age of the mortgage. See more
