In 2028 a molecular biologist unveils a hidden layer of the genome, proving that all human life and choices are pre-designed. After verifying many individual predictions, governments embrace the machine as a means to controlling their citizens' lives. To maintain order, they closely monitor people's last days before their anticipated death. Only a few years after receiving his own genetic prediction, 28-year-old Joseph struggles to come to terms with his own expected death within seven days. Followed by the government's close surveillance, he goes to a lake that is believed to possess the power to alter this deadly inner code. A surprising encounter with a mysterious young woman causes him to doubt the source and power of the prediction, leading him to believe that there could be, after all, an alternative future.
