This is how fan films can be made
17 February 2018 | by SnootzSee all my reviews

This is a slow-moving presentation (with good reason) but asks a question throughout: what is it that makes the Jedi any better than the ones they oppose? If one uses the same tactics as the enemy, how is that different from the enemy?

One of the finest fan films I have seen to date. The special effects are pristine. I'd even go so far as to say they equal anything Lucasfilms or Disney ever produced, which I find amazing in a fan film. One dream scene featuring an Imperial Cruiser is just wondrous in its appearance and impact.

The acting is excellent, even though the two primary characters are young boys-- which indicates fine directing as well. The attention to detail as well as mystery as to where this is heading keeps the viewer interested. The point made at the very end is icing on the cake (can't discuss that because it would be a major spoiler).

It is interesting in the dream sequences, it is never defined who is the "good guy" or "bad guy"... which leads the viewer to the sledgehammer ending. It's rare these days to see a good morality play, much less one done within ten minutes of time.

This reminds me somewhat of my favorite Russian scifi film STALKER, an art-film classic which also was very slow moving but with a terrific ending and overall message. I'd give it 10 stars but it falls just short of being "astoundingly good". Amazingly good though, yeah. Two thumbs up on this one.
