When the Krill disable the shuttle's engines, the shuttle's forward momentum quickly slows until it is barely moving. In the airless void of space, the shuttle should have kept drifting at its previous speed.
When Teleya and Ed crash-land on the swamp, Teleya points out there's ground interference and their instruments don't work. Also, a number of enemy pods are seen entering the atmosphere, but their trajectory would put them several hours away from them, on foot march. Since no alien vehicle is ever seen, and most likely the enemy soldiers rely on their own instruments to track down Ed and Teleya, this wouldn't be possible, since the ground interference would scramble their readings as well. The soldiers could have a rough orbital location for the landing site, but tracking it on the surface would be subject to the same limitation: the search party would be as good as blind, as soon as they come closer.
The escape pods on the Krill ship are said to be programmed to seek out the nearest habitable world. By sheer luck, there happens to be a habitable world nearby. However, space is vast and the number of worlds that have a hospitable atmosphere are few and far between. The escape pod is not equipped with a faster-than-light engine, so unless they eject right next to a habitable world as they do here, they would never make it to one before the pod's occupants die of asphyxiation, starvation, or dehydration.
The Krill are incredibly sensitive to the levels of sunlight found on most habitable worlds, to the point where they must wear protective battle helmets when venturing to the surface. Yet their escape pods, while equipped with field rations and other survival gear, do not come with protective measures against sunlight (or, if they do, Teleya neglected to bring them with her, which would be foolish).
When Gordon and Bortus fly a shuttle down to rescue Ed and Teleya, their scans shown one human (Ed) and one Krill (Teleya). Their sensors somehow missed the group of Chak'tal hunting Ed and Teleya.
The shuttle is attacked by Krill fighters just a few minutes after departing the Orville. The shuttle has not yet gone to quantum speed. The Orville should still be very close nearby and able to assist the shuttle.
When the sun comes up over the planet's surface, Ed is seen analyzing the sky and he states the day on that planet lasts for the equivalent of 23 Earth days.
Since they have been resting for a number of hours, and one can infer by Ed's shadow later on that the sun is at an elevation comparable to that of Earth's sun at mid morning (8am to 10am), if the sun takes 23 days to go down, it stands to reason that it would take it several days to rise to that elevation as well, not mere hours. It is unclear, however, whether this is an accurate statement, or a bluff by Ed, to accelerate the escape.
Ed identifies the attacking Krill ships as Marauder-class fighters, yet he is surprised a short while later when a larger cruiser shows up. Marauder-class fighters are short-range vessels. They would not be out in deep space without a mother ship to deploy from.
When Ed returns to the couch with snacks, he asks Janel what he missed. She tells him, "He's still singing with his shirt off." The shot then cuts to a view of the television where they are watching The King and I (1956) and Yul Brynner is singing, but has a shirt on.
Gordon tells the (simulated) Krill commander that Union officers eat "a lot of protein" including "fresh fruits and vegetables." Fruits and vegetables are, on the whole, very low in protein, with few exceptions. Protein in meaningful quantities is derived mostly from meat and nuts.
When Gordon and Bortus arrive in the shuttle to rescue Ed and Teleya, they find them under attack from the Chak'tal. The shuttle is equipped with weapons and targeting sensors. They could have easily repelled the Chak'tal soldiers, rather than forcing Ed and Teleya to make a run for it while under fire.
