Bortus's fellow officers are puzzled why he's so distant, even uninterested in the rare observation of a planet about to be swallowed by its exploding sun. His Moclean partner Klyden and their son are getting annoyed, even suspicious of his frequent long absences, falsely blamed on duty assignments. In fact Bortus is addicted to simulator porn role-plays, and discovering his infidelity, Klyden attempts to murder him, but is stopped and the pair sent to couples therapy. The planet's residue population is contacted to radio and found in urgent need of evacuation by shuttle, but there's insufficient time given its capacity and a damage to the spaceship puts it I danger of being fatally attracted by the expanding star itself. In the beginning Isaac says "The sun will not become a red super-giant for another five billion years". Actually the sun will never become a red super-giant at all, but only a 'red giant'. For example, Betelgeuse is a red super-giant and Aldabaran is a red giant. The sun will only become like Aldabaran in the far future. See more »

Simulated Moclan: Welcome to The Cove of Pleasure. Our only wish is to bring you ecstasy.
Cmdr. Kelly Grayson: [Ed and Kelly both shocked] Wow.

The Orville has lost it's edge!
4 January 2019 | by GromstaurSee all my reviews

Once again, what should be the main event of the episode plays second fiddle to relationship/parenting drama. I can't think of anything less interesting coming from a Sci-Fi show. So far, season two is firmly stuck in a ditch, serving up one pointless filler after the other. I sincerely hope things pick up soon.
