This episode was a backdoor pilot for a potential ABC comedy series centered around the lives of single mother Lucy Somers (Nia Long) and her daughters Felicia (Rachel Crow) and Gigi (Summer Parker), one of whom was the grown-up narrator (Octavia Spencer). When the show became the series Schooled (2019), it was retooled to be all about The Goldbergs character Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka) and her career as a teacher at the high school at which she used to be a student. This show has really gone downhill since they wrote Lainey out of the script. Then "replaced" her with that irritating valley girl roommate Erica has at the college. The school she never seems to attend.
