Trivia

The confrontation between Miguel and Robbie over Sam is very similar (and most likely a homage) to the first confrontation between Daniel and Johnny over Ali in the first "Karate Kid" movie. Both the conflicts happen because the boyfriend is jealous at seeing his girlfriend with another boy. Both conflicts take place at night, on the beach during a get-together, and a bonfire is burning in both instances. See more »

Quotes

Amanda LaRusso: What is going on?
Anthony LaRusso: Dad's about to fight this guy!
Daniel LaRusso: Amanda, please, just go inside. This is between me and Sensei Lawrence.
Amanda LaRusso: Yeah, you two seem to have this pretty well in hand. Just a normal Saturday afternoon, a couple of grown men about to kick each other into a pool. You know, as much as I would love to watch you and your childhood karate rival duke it out, I kinda don't wanna get any blood on the patio, so what do you say we try to resolve this over some breakfast instead?
[pause]
Daniel LaRusso: Want to go ...

Cobra Kai

Different But Same

The suffering and journey that the characters went through all these years comes in handy to project for the makers which they do and should use it to draw out the best emotions. The series does lack a major conundrum i.e. they do not possess strength on acting objective which might bite them on the long run. Although watching William Zabka and Ralph Machio share a screen is definitely electrifying which the makers are aware of and uses it wisely.

The technical aspects are better like choreography (action sequence can be tough to project for the mature actors) and background score. The writing is cheesy, corny and questionable with a familiar plot that it mostly walks on but somehow between creation and execution it still works like a charm in here.

The build up to the climax has been stretched since now and now when finally it hits, it hits hard and fast which is always good but in here comes off questionable somewhat due to uneven pacing that may feel like something is missing.
