Storyline

On the planet Etheria, Adora is an up and coming soldier for the Horde eager to defend her home from the menace of the Princesses she has taught all her life to fear. Everything changes when a chance encounter with the mystic Sword of Protection in the Whispering Woods calls to her. Discovering to her horror the true evil of the Horde, Adora defects to the Rebellion as its foretold champion, She-Ra Princess of Power. Now, Adora and her new friends must rebuild the shattered Princess Alliance to defeat the Evil Horde. Meanwhile, Adora's former best friend in the Horde, Catra, is tasked to reclaim Adora, but her own feelings of jealousy, betrayal, and vindictive ambition lead her down a path darker still set by Lord Hordak that will hold all of Etheria in the balance. Trivia

The focus on Adora/She-Ra and Catra being each others main adversaries is taken from the original Princess of Power toy-line, in which Catra was the main villain. The Evil Horde were created for the Masters of the Universe toy-line, but added to the She-Ra story line in the Filmation series. See more »

The DreamWorks logo appears in the form of Light Hope's hologram and features She-Ra in her classic sword aloft pose. See more »

This show fails at every techincal level

I am not sure what Dreamworks was aiming for with this title but it is a train wreck. The pacing is terrible, many of the story elements don't make any sense, such as why the "Evil" Horde doesn't inform their recruits of the nature of the Horde. Brainwashing and mental conditioning has been a staple of bad guys since forever. Why for some reason the training personnel over look this simple technique and the main character's case pretty much breaks any possible logic that could have driven the first three episodes. What we are left with is episodes that are full for dribble, lacking any impact, character development that is contrived that is about the quality one could expect from a six year old.

The animation is choppy, the character design is childish, the story is weak, the characters themselves are unbelievable even for a fantasy setting, plot holes abound, and the overall quality is inferior. This is one of the worse looking products put out by Dreamworks ever and I am truly disappointed that this production studio could not do better then the original. I honestly do not know what age category this is aimed at. The dialog would makes little sense to some one under eight, the pacing is too slow for anyone up to thirteen, but is obnoxious to anyone that is over fourteen. Having watched the first four episode with children in all the above age group, we ended up switching to the current Voltron season, a show that is vastly superior in every way.

If this is the best Dreamworks can do, then maybe it is time to close their doors because the magic is gone.
