For her own safety, Chaulk had been posing as a man for years - only Grace and Lord Benton knew Chaulk was a woman. When Grace and Chaulk have been captured and are brought to Lord Benton, in front of many soldiers, Grace tries to cover for Chaulk by saying "This isn't her fault, I forced her into it." However, none of the characters realize that Grace just "outed" Chaulk- Chaulk is not upset, Grace doesn't realize she made an error, none of the soldiers are surprised to learn that Chaulk has been a woman all this time, etc.
