In France, at a time when it was inconceivable for a woman to pursue a career in art, Berthe Morisot courageously followed her passion and became one of the founding members of the Impressionist art movement. Her male colleagues have become world famous, names like Monet, Degas, Pissarro, Sisley and Renoir. But Berthe Morisot has remained relatively unknown. The 'Heart is a Rebel' investigates Morisot's intriguing life and discovers that she is a powerful source of inspiration for young women today.
What I found intriguing about Morisot: Moed, Storm en Liefde was especially the parallel that was drawn between the former life of Morisot and modern life for women nowadays. Morisot was a pioneer and for that you need courage. I thought the movie was very inspiring and gives food for thought.
