Entertaining if only....
Simonsyared16 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's actually not bad for a sixth installment if only they hadn't killed off Jake Carter which was an extremely weird coup de théâtre in this kind of movies. They basically killed the hero and kept his sidekick. Nice gun fight scenes though.

Watchable But Barely
larrys329 December 2018
This is the latest presentation in the WWE produced Marine film series. I've seen a couple of them and I recall liking the original 2006 movie The Marine, with John Cena. However, this one was barely watchable, in my opinion.

Shawn Michaels and Mike "The Miz" Mizanin star here as two ex-Marines who are trying to help a Vietnam Vet squatting in a huge abandoned and dilapidated apartment complex, in Portland, Oregon. But they will stumble upon the hideout of some Irish mob kidnappers. They've taken the daughter of a jury member in a murder trial involving one of their leaders , as they try and force a mistrial in the case.

What will ensue will be one fight scene after another, either hand-to-hand combat or weaponry, as the two ex-Marines along with the kidnapped young woman try and fight their way out of the enormous building. I might mention here that Becky Lynch is believable as the sadistic head of the kidnappers. There's a twist towards the end of the film that probably few would have predicted.

Overall, there's just too much stilted dialogue and repetitive fight scenes for my liking here. The banter between Michaels and The Miz offers some comic relief at times, but it's not always effective. As mentioned earlier, it's watchable but barely, as I see it.

BAD ACTING
valica-338491 August 2022
Former Marines, at some times yes, but most no. Seems Sarah had better ideas than them. In 1 scene in tunnel, girl posing as homeless has a phone, why after killing or at least knocking out, why didn't they take the phone?

Was thinking of watching the other 5, now, not so sure.

Weakest sequel
AthulRamesh16 November 2018
I actually like to watch all these low budget Direct-to-Video action movies and I have watched all the entries in the Marine sequels. Out of all these sequels The Marine 6: Close Quarters is easily the weakest of them all. I know no one is watching these movies excepting a great script or great acting or anything like that, still all the other Marine movies were a one time watchable action flicks which managed to entertain me with some solid action and fight scenes, whereas in this one the action and fight scenes feel quite dull and very choreographed and they also have one of the worst/dumbest twist i have ever seen. So if you like the previous Marine movies and you are a fan of the WWE and old school action movies and you have 90 mins to spare you can give this one a try otherwise just leave this one behind.

What a load of crap.
lageri196126 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
By far the worst of the franchise, bad acting, stupid plot, in one scene fights 2 big guys of in a jif and then suddenly a skinny girl is able to fight him of like he was in a coma, and what marine would keep firing his weapon in all directions, when he is low on ammo. This was so bad, what a waste of time.

Poor directing, totally stupid plot.
festus-2698614 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First, everyone went around pointing guns at people, and loaded them afterward. As an LE firearms instructor I can say NO cops or military (and especially bad guys) go around without a round in the chamber all the time (stupid Director, as in most movies, but it looks neat for the uninformed, who wouldn't notice it anyway, when you rack a gun for the camera). Also, the dad was in a "locked down" jury room. Also as a cop, I can tell you NOBODY has access to a jury when they are in deliberation, or the jury is tainted. So they could have just killed all three, and "daddy" wouldn't have known until after he "hung" the jury. Just pretty poor all around. But, alas, the fight scenes were kind of entertaining.

decent action move
VesselOil2 November 2021
The story is cheap, you can watch this while doing housechore and still understand the story, is just about rescue mission. And most of the scene take in one place. So i barely can call this movie that studios movie make, more like fanmade movie with low budget.

Lock it Down.
nogodnomasters13 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Plot Spoiler review.

I can't recall a worse 6 sequel film series. Jake Carter (The Miz) and war buddy Luke (Shawn Michaels) come across the Irish mafia holding a girl in an abandoned building. Fight, grunt, shoot, fight grunt, shoot, tough guy talk, semper fi, etc. etc. Bad acting, bad plot. And what? The Irish mafia runs around with two dozen locks, just in case they need to lock down a building? Louisa Connolly-Burnham runs around looking like a deer in the headlights as if to say, "Why did I accept this film?" "I need a new agent."

The real plot spoiler is they kill off the star. It is not as if Jake Carter has died or anything. And then they do a "Fast and Furious" style tribute to him...Hey! He is still alive! You can make more lousy movies! Sorry, it wasn't touching.

Finish It
torstensonjohn21 June 2019
The phrase uttered half a dozen times "finish it", subsequently could mean the end of the franchise. Mike "The Miz" Mizanin portrays the soldier Jake Carter in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th films. I have reviewed all the films and let's just say the acting in each in every one is sub-par at best. I have mentioned time and time again that the billion dollar company WWE should have invested more time, money, and talent to make the franchise work. However, these films will eventually become a cult phenomenon because of the star power of the WWE.

The film has a generic storyboard with a girl who is kidnapped by malicious Irish gang and Jake and his CO in the service are in the wrong place at the right time. The entire film takes place in an abandoned brewery with close quarter fighting that leaves little to be desired for. Shawn Michaels (Luke) is the CO and I have to say his acting is horrid, fight sequences terrible and watching him run is laughable. Now Becky Lynch on the other hand was the surprise in the film as the baddy. I enjoyed her performance and fighting style.

Surprisingly funny
bitbucketchip29 April 2022
Guy falls twenty feet into a spike pit. A piece of rebar fully penetrates his chest.

Buddy: You alright?

Guy: Is it deep?

Two guys are kickboxing in a ring.

Guy: Remember when I took a bullet for you?

On the face of it, this movie deserves the one and two star reviews. The acting is terrible, the plot nonsensical, and the action scenes are straight off a WWE match cutting room floor.

What works is the humor. Delivered deadpan, the jokes land more often than the pulled punches.

Six stars for Marine 6.

Pathetic
paleopterix23 February 2020
I can literally count all the movies that I've seen worse than this one using just the fingers of one hand. No plot. No acting. Just a mix of a garbage script and a couple of awfully bad actors.

Terrible film, badly written, bad acting, awful choreography - essentially I couldn't finish this movie, after giving it more time than it deserved I gave up. Don't waste your time. Wrestlers should stick to 'wrestling', only the Rock has pulled it off......

Not as good as the previous Marine movies.
pipo-15 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I assume this will be the last Marine movie since they definitely killed off the main actor, which made no sense it was a pointless scene with no outcome, they could of rewritten the script ie made cave collapse or similar.

I can only assume some disagreement happened behind the scenes where the main actor (the miz) wanted out or was forced out, who knows, really they could of just not given him a part to begin with since he didn't get many lines and mostly just followed along so maybe the pony tail guy was supposed to be the main actor?, anyways no use making sense of this movie.

None of the Marine moves were really "good" or believable but they did provide decent entertainment as a comedy if not taken seriously, their drama attempt on this movie really failed since it doesn't work in this type of film.

anyways I would rate this as a 3 / 5 since it had some OK fight scenes and comedic scenes, the plot was bad, and acting was same as previous movies, it's watchable but nothing great, In my opinion the previous 5 movies were much better and entertaining.

The best Marine yet
Leofwine_draca24 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
CLOSE QUARTERS is no less than the sixth instalment of the long-running MARINE franchise, which started with an awful John Cena movie back in the day but have got a bit better since then. These movies tend to feature wrestlers doing their business in the low budget B-movie action genre and this film is no exception. A couple of buddies, played as usual by wrestling stars, randomly end up in an abandoned factory where they have a run in with some sinister kidnappers who seem to have an endless army of henchmen helping them out. What follows is virtually non-stop action, mixing and cutting between explosions, chases, shoot-outs and more protracted hand-to-hand combat. The hulking Martyn Ford and the imposing Terence Maynard are two imported British actors who make good use of their typical 'muscle' roles while the action comes thick and fast and is quite enjoyable to boot. This one's an easy turn-off-your-brain kind of watch.

this is something you won't expect.
nikola178 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I am fan of franchise i hated Marine 5 Battleground so badly i thought this might be a better sequel but it turned out to be eh something you don't expect to happen in this movie. i would like action and pacing but plot really killed movie i liked movie of pacing and action and everything else was fast pacing. now cast i don't mind Becky lynch, and another professional bodybuilder (Martyn Ford) known for 4th Undisputed Boyka film, Accident Man, Final Score. Shawn michaels is good as well. i am a WWE fan but this movie is eh plot follows Jake Carter (Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin) and former Marine Luke Trapper (Shawn Michaels) to rescue a kidnapped girl Sarah Dillon (Louisa Connolly-Burnham) from a gang of international criminals villains Maddy Hayes (Becky Lynch) and (Terence Maynard) Shawn Taylor, Oscar Hayes (Martyn Ford). they went to this hotel that is closed down for many years. they got caught up with group of criminals then they are on run with Sarah her dad Patrick Dillon (Alec Newman) is going to trail if he is guilty to tell if he knows criminals. this is Similar version of brick mansions or B-13 Distract 13 whatever you wanna call it. type of thing action was fun it was going full on and yes i liked Shawn Michaels character he is very fun in movie. but this is movie your looking for if your marine fan of all 5 movies well i didn't like 5th film

SPOILER ALERT

but this isn't something your looking for, because the lead hero Jake Carter (Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin) gets killed off i am not kidding at all i am not joking when you see towards at middle of movie he gets killed off like he never comes back now i don't know why i would see that is good idea because we followed this character and writers of movie and director i blame more of that why kill off the important character when he is always part of franchise or they wanted to do something so they don't see it coming ? that is just stupid he was our hero we follow this character we liked him now he is killed off for reason so this does mean it's end of franchise this is how they ended the franchise ? to have our lead hero to be killed off for fans this is the most disappointing movie in franchise to end to have our hero killed off for no reason we followed, we liked this character, we enjoyed marine movies now he is killed off his character got killed off buy Becky Lynch saying goodbye Marine throws knife in his chest that's end of it then story follows Shawn michaels taking vow revenge on her.

ending of film is like sad song, sad tribute of Mike Miz i am like this is ending tribute like if it's Fast and Furious 7 when Paul walker died. shows previous marine movies of Miz like if Miz died in real life. i am like Miz is not dead he is still alive in smackdown. with stupid ending like that, tribute i am curious is this last and last of Marine movie ? it sounds exacting but it killed off lead character we follow sadly for fans of Miz and Marine movies you wanna rent this movie before you buy it, i had fun with action but this movie ruined it i thought this was would kick the crap out of Marine 5 Battleground but it got little worse because our lead character is killed off would this franchise continue to now ? who's next marine hero ? how many Marine movies would they make ? this is weakest film ever people for marine fans maybe when i written spoiler you maybe wanna rent this and judge it on your opinion. 3.10 sadly reason why because action was fan i like Shawn Michaels, Becky Lynch and Miz of crouse when he got killed off, but i just enjoyed this for fun nothing else but not something i would have in my collection or watch this billions of times. director James Nunn AKA James None witch he doesn't have none brains to think of killing off our main hero witch i personality think he has none good writing or none of thinking before killing of lead character James Nunn and writers of this movie ruined Marine franchise. he ruined i would say to James Nunn sucks at writing and directing movies so badly, and make this worse and worst marine to kill of our hero James Nunn raped franchise down flushed to toilet. can we have different director rather then having James Nunn who made 2 Marine movies 5th Marine Battleground and this ruined it for fans you won't like this movie at all for me my opinion it's just time waster good action but watching this is eh burning time film i call it. i just watch it for Miz, Becky, Shawn that's all but sametime this movie sucked and got worse.

Awful just awful
kjohn-778919 February 2024
I have seen all of the previous Marine films and have enjoyed them, yes the acting needs work but the budget seemed to have been okay and this also goes for the action sequences.

Now I don't know what happened with this movie, maybe the WWE did t want to give anymore money to these movies as they were not the cash cows they thought they could and would be.

Here we get awful acting especially from Martyn Ford, stop giving this idiot movies to star in. He ruined and I mean ruined the Undisputed movie he was in, that one was the worst out of the whole series and here he is awful in every scene he is in.

Yeah if you think his acting is bad well th same goes for Michaels as well.

The whole movie stinks of cheapness and it shows from the awful acting and dialogue to the action scenes.

Give this one a wide berth and watch one of the previous ones.

Better than bad Aggregate
nikree27 April 2020
Greately mis-deserved low reviews. Not best of a movie, but definitely a 7 or 8. What do you expect going for a WWE Studios movie. Not superficially acted, but the story was good, with nice momentum and entertaining.
