While Connerty is trying to convince Boyd to help him catch Chuck, Connerty says, "Chuck, I fear, has begun to abuse his power. That he's become something of a tyrant." Boyd replies, "And you're gonna what? Put one in his ear during a performance of 'Our American Cousin'?" Connerty blanches and demurs, saying, "Not how I'd phrase it." "Our American Cousin" is the play that President Abraham Lincoln was watching when he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth; after shooting Lincoln, Booth jumped form the balcony and yelled, "Sic Semper Tyrannus" ("Thus always to Tyrants"), implying that he murdered Lincoln because he thought the president was a tyrant. Therefore, Boyd is suggesting that Connerty should kill Chuck, and Connerty is saying that he doesn't want to go that far. See more
