Manga's parents visit Sargi's house with a marriage proposal but Lalaji, Sargi's grandfather, who is not happy with Manga working for the Britishers, refuses the proposal. Raja Inderveer Singh asks all the people of village Naku Guda to relocate to some other place as he intends to set up a Distillery there. Sensing an opportunity to impress Lalaji, Manga decides to help the villagers and complains about it to Officer Mark Daniels, unaware of the fact that his officer is in cahoots with Raja Inderveer Singh. An unsuspecting Manga is manipulated by Mark Daniels and Raja Inderveer Singh and ends up helping them deceive the villagers. Now the entire village holds Manga responsible for their difficult situation. Embarrassed at his naivety, Manga resolves to set things right and win back his lost dignity.
- Raja Inderveer Singh (Kumud Mishra) is a Rajput King with a small Kingdom, who has been presented with a set of British demands in 1921 by its officer Mark Daniels (Edward Sonnenblick). The demands include a 25% revenue tax and a cap of 25 marriages. Inderveer is dead against the demands, but he knows that he cannot stand up to the might of the British with his tiny army. Daniels allows Inderveer to have 40 wives, in exchange for a 35% revenue tax. Mark wants to insubordinate Indian kings as he wants to set up a liquor factory in India. Daniels presents the proposal to Inderveer and asks for land in exchange for an 40% equity stake in the factory. Gandhi was running the non-cooperation movement in the country and asking the citizens to boycott British goods and to not serve the British in their jobs.
Princess Shyamali Devi (Monica Gill) is Inderveer's & Maharani's (Neeta Mohindra) daughter and has recently returned from the UK after studying at Oxford. Mark likes her & tries to woo her. Mark plays tennis with Shyamali to try and get close to her.
Mangatram/Manga (Kapil Sharma) is an uneducated and jobless young man who dreams of joining the Police Force but fails at every attempt made to do so. Manga lives with his father Kashi and his grandmother (Jatinder Kaur).
During a visit to the village Naku Guda for his friend Heera's (Inaamulhaq) wedding, Manga comes across Sargi (Ishita Dutta) and falls in love with her, but because of being jobless Manga is unable to take forward his relationship with Sargi. Nimmo (Roshni Walia) is Sargi's younger sister and is very protective of the innocent and sweet Sargi.
Manga was born with a unique ability that he could cure anyone's backache with a simple kick to their backside. One day Mark hurts his back playing tennis with Shayamali. Manga is summoned from his village and manages to cure Mark Daniels of his backache using the same ability of his. Impressed by this act of Manga, Mark offers him a job in the Police Force, which Manga happily accepts. Shyamali was witness to Manga's unique skill and befriends him.
Sargi also reciprocates Manga's feelings and is already dreaming of a life with him after marriage. Manga is now convinced that since he has a job now, Sargi's family won't object to his marriage with her and so he approaches Sargi's grandfather Lalaji (Aanjjan Srivastav) with regards to this. But Lalaji (Aanjjan Srivastav) (who is an elder statesman of the village and leads the local agitation against the British Empire and rule), who is a follower of Mahatma Gandhi refuses the proposal because Manga is working for the Britishers, the very same people from whom the people of the country are fighting to get their independence from. Manga argues with Lalaji that Britishers have brought progress to the country in the form of Railways. But Lalaji says that the Britishers are only looking out for their own economic interests and want to loot the country of its resources. Manga calls Lalaji stubborn. Kashi will not allow Manga to leave the job as Manga has 2 sisters that are of marriageable age and the family needs his income to meet the oncoming expenses.
Shyamali is offended when Mark tries to touch her inappropriately and without her permission. Shyamali knows of Mangat's feelings for Sargi and prays for him. For the liquor factory, Inderveer allocates the land that belongs to Sargi's village. In exchange the villagers are allocated land in the middle of the forest to resettle their village. Lalaji goes to Inderveer when he comes to know of the decision (when it is announced in the village by its land record keeper, the Patwari) and is insulted by Inderveer. Inderveer says that he is above the law as King of the land.
Lalaji then goes to Delhi to hire a barrister to lodge a case against Inderveer. When Daniels comes to know he asks Inderveer to ask Mangat to invite all village elders for an evening discussion. Inderveer serves liquor to everyone and gets them unconscious. Then he gets everyone's thumb prints on land sales papers. This fraud is revealed the next morning & the entire village turns against Mangat as he had persuaded everyone to go to the meeting.
Manga decides to complain to Daniels about Inderveer, only to realize that they are working in cahoots. He comes back dejected but tells the villagers that Daniels didn't know about Inderveer conspiracy and that Daniels has promised to protect the villagers. Meanwhile Daniels is getting nowhere with Shyamali and talks to Inderveer for his wedding to her. Inderveer agrees if Daniels agrees to give him a higher stake in the liquor project.
Eventually, Manga's lie is caught when Daniels himself comes to the village and is furious to see that it is still not vacated. He orders the village to be emptied. The villagers are furious at Manga, but this time Shyamali is with Manga and convinces the villagers of Manga's truth and the connivance of Daniels and Inderveer.
Shyamali cooperates with the villagers to help them steal the property papers from Inderveer's safe, during her wedding to Daniels. Shyamali also escapes with Manga and the villagers. Inderveer and Daniels pursue Manga to the village, where he stands up to Daniels and tears up the property deeds. Daniels is about to shoot him, but is saved by the arrival of Gandhi, who was requested by Lalaji to come.
