Will is writing 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' but the actors do not think it is funny and even the usually loyal Kate finds it to be far-fetched. Will wins her over by recounting how a fairy called Puck gave him a potion which aided his marriage whilst Kit's need for a disguise to escape his enemies and manservant Bottom accidentally provide the ingredients to make the play a success. Will Shakespeare: Speaking of which, predatory sprites aside, do you like my Midsummer's Night Dream?
Kate: If I'm honest, I think it's all a bit mimsy whimsy soppy grotty doo dah.
Will Shakespeare: Mimsy whimsy soppy grotty doo dah, how can you say that?
Kate: Well, for a start, three of the characters are fairies.

Kate: FSNEP?

Lord, What Fools These Mortals Be!

Ben Elton has certainly got his mojo back with Upstart Crow but then again he has a great co-writer. Will Shakespeare!

Will thinks he has written a rip roaring comedy but his troupe of actors disagree. This one will certainly not raise the roof.

Lord Egeus, old but rich is intent on marrying Kate. Will who believes in pixies and fairies goes to the countryside to look for a magic portion in order for Kate to fall in love with Lord Egeus when she claps eyes on him. It is the same portion Will used many years ago on Anne that was handed to him by a pixie.

The events that take place when Lord Egeus turns up to see Kate inspires his rewriting of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

A strong funny start to the series, Will still finds time to critique the state of the transport system.
