There was a real Paper Clip Project run by the US government. Among all the Nazi German scientists, Wernher von Braun worked in Nazi Germany's rocket development program. He helped design and develop the V-2 rocket at Peenemünde during World War II. Following the war, he was secretly moved to the United States, along with about 1,600 other German scientists, engineers, and technicians, as part of Operation Paperclip. He worked for the United States Army on an intermediate-range ballistic missile program, and he developed the rockets that launched the United States' first space satellite Explorer 1. Many of NASA's Nazi scientists were working at Cape Canaveral at the same time as the African American mathematicians such as Katherine Johnson featured in "Hidden Figures". Kurt Debus, a former SA and SS member was first launch supervisor at Cape Canaveral, and was instrumental in designing the Saturn V which took Apollo to the Moon. He had formerly worked on the V2 rockets which terrorised London. See more »

Warning: Spoilers - If Jonah is 19 years old in 1977 when the series takes place, and his Grandmother had his mother as soon as she was liberated from the death camp in 1945, because the Grandfather disappears on Nov 4th that year. then Jonah's mother would have been 13 years old when she gave birth to him. Even if Jonah's grandmother was pregnant during the last few months of her internment, her daughter, if she had lived would have been only 32 years old in 1977. Hardly old enough to have a 19 year old child. See more »
The trailers for this highlighted the moments of drama, graphic violence, and a compelling plot. However, the show has a very cartoonish, faux-blacksploitation veneer, riddled with very cheesy attempts at humor that fell very flat for me. The writing and direction undermine some good performances from (some of) the actors. Maybe I'll give it another try when I'm in a better mindset for the type of show this actually is. But I don't know if I'll be able to get past how desperately it tries to be fun. It just seems to rehash tired tropes from better genres in an attempt to see original, but lacks its own sense of style to pull it together. It's like someone threw a bunch of random ingredients in water and called it soup. But they never let it simmer enough to create a real broth.
