The female John Wick!
24 June 2019 | by TheTopDawgCriticSee all my reviews

After reading some of the negative reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but wow was I pleasantly surprised!

I get why many reviewers didn't like the timeline jumps, and I didn't at first either, but looking back, there really wasn't any other way to tell the story with it's pleasant twists, without confusing the viewer. But to give this film all the 1's and 2's for that is just dumb and amateur critiquing.

Then saying Sasha Luss couldn't act... people, this was only her second (first starring role, only to her previous minor hardly-speaking role in Valerian) film role! I think she nailed it, and was more convincing in her character than most seasoned actors I've seen in recent films. And being easy on the eyes is a bonus! All cast for that matter were excellent, especially Helen Mirren, who I didn't recognize until halfway through the film.

Directing was great, fight choreography outstanding, sound/score on point, and the pacing and length perfect. The occasional comic relief was another bonus in the action packed high paced thriller.

I enjoyed this so much I'll see it again at least one more time, especially now that I know the timelines better.

This film is an honest and well deserving 9/10 from me! And if anyone questions my review as fake, click on my username and you will see my 1000+ ratings and 600+ reviews, and while you're at it, read my profile to learn how to review a film.

Now to patiently wait for a Part 2, or even better, a team up with John Wick - Assassins Chapter!
