  • One use of Fuck. Around 20 or so "S words;" 2 uses of damn/goddamns; various other profanities/blasphemies. Uses the fullest amount of profanity allowed in a PG-13 movie.
  • The movie pushes the PG-13 rating to it's limits with profanity.
  • Assholes, Whore, bitch.. all words used very frequently in this movie.. Certainly doesn't look like PG 13 at all.
  • One incomplete use of motherfuker
  • 1 abuse of "Christ," 4 misuses of "Jesus," and several other instances of God's name used like a curse word.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Ellie takes a bottle from the liquor cabinet and has a drink to cope with parenting frustrations.
  • Frequent mentions of drugs and drug abuse. Most often, the context is talking about children in the foster care system who were removed from drug-abusing parents. No drug usage is seen on-screen.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The fights and strained relationships among the foster parents and children are at times intense.
