Sex & Nudity

  • Lady is shown shirtless. Back is to us so no frontal nudity is shown. Nude man is shown pinned to ground. Nudity is covered because of the two men scrambling around.

Violence & Gore

  • Severals scenes where people are shot; blood shown.
  • A man is hit in the head with a shotgun, knocking him out. Due to the camera angle, this is mostly implied.
  • Multiple characters are shot. Blood shown.
  • A woman is fatally stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver. Huge amount of blood shown pouring from her neck. Slow death.
  • In a war scene at the beginning, we see a man covered with blood and flies crucified to a cross. He is still alive and one of the soldiers shoots him to end his suffering (this is shown from very far away).
  • A man beats another man before pushing his face into mud.
  • During a fight, a man is thrown out of a parked school bus.
  • A man sacrifices a dog, believing that God will save his wife if he does so (shown offscreen; we only see him and the dog outside, then the screen goes dark and we hear a gunshot). The Dog is shown later crucified behind the prayer log.
  • A girl is pushed to her knees, and trash is thrown at her.
  • Coming to the defense of another person, a man punches someone, but is then beaten and subdued by the group.

  • A young woman contemplates abortion.
  • A serial killer couple end up killing a man that the woman has slept with.

Violence & Gore

  • It is implied that a man was once tortured.
  • At the films climax, Arvin shoots Lee in the stomach with his father's Luger. We see a bloody entry wound before Lee falls over. Blood gushes from the wound in the following shot. The narrator then says that he died within a few minutes and tried to fight to stay alive.
  • The main character shoots the dog off screen and leaves the body in the woods.
  • A woman contemplates hanging herself. She is shown preparing the noose, but quickly realizes that she's making a mistake. She begins untying the rope (which is already around her neck) but slips, accidentally killing herself. The actual hanging isn't shown onscreen, only the aftermath of her feet hanging in the air.
  • After discovering what really happened to Lenora, we see Arvin shoot the preacher several times. Plenty of blood from the wounds is shown
  • A man and woman are shown throughout the film to be serial killers who murder hitchhikers.
  • During a playback of a situation with one of the serial killers' victims, you briefly see the victim's groin area has been shot or gored in some way. While he's yelling in pain, one-half of the serial killer couple sits on top of his chest, trying to get a picture of his pained face.
  • A child finds his father's dead body and mistakenly thinks his father is asleep. When he nudges his father, he tips over and it becomes clear he has died by suicide. Blood, bloody knife, and dead body visible. Creepy atmosphere to scene.
  • A man kills his wife. He stabs her in the throat with a screwdriver. It is extremely disturbing. He is shown swinging at her throat, a sound of it cutting her, lots of blood. She dies slowly.
  • A nude man is being forced to get his picture taken after his genitalia has been mutilated.
  • A dog is crucified to a cross and seems to be mutilated. This scene takes place in the dark and is some what hard to make out.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man kills a dog. This may upset viewers.
  • The scenes involving the serial killers are filled with tension and dread.
  • A boys dog is mutilated and crucified by his own father. The boy later discovers the body.
  • A young boy find his own fathers body after he committed suicide
  • A young lady hangs herself and is found by her (step) brother
  • A grown man impregnates a teenaged girl, she goes to kill herself but backs out but ends up slipping and killing herself anyway. (Very disturbing)
