Storyline

The Lockes, following the death of the father, come to live at the Locke ancestral mansion, called Key House. Most enthused of the three kids is youngest Bode, who soon discovers a voice in a well willing to be his special friend. As his brooding older siblings focus on entering a new school, Bode learns that the house is full of magical keys that whisper to him to be found. The voice in the well proves to be no friend, and the family's mother finds herself caught in an almost certain lethal trap. Written by statmanjeff

Trivia

The town's name is changed from Lovecraft in the comics, to Matheson. According to creator and EP 'Joe Hill', this was done in honor of writer Richard Matheson, whose work provided much of the inspiration for the original comic. See more »

Goofs

After Kinsey takes the selfie "for Dad," she goes to put her phone away and turn around. In the very next shot, from the opposite angle, her hands are already in her pockets. There was not enough time for her to have put her phone away and put her hands in the pockets in the split-second between shots. See more »

Quotes

Duncan Locke: This is the drawing room.
Nina Locke: Ooh. Drawing room.
Bode Locke: That's good for you, Kinsey. She likes to draw just like you, Uncle Duncan.
Kinsey Locke: A drawing room is where people would go drink and smoke cigars after dinner, snot-gobbler.
Bode Locke: Well then why don't they call it that?

The first episode shows promise
9 February 2020 | by DVD_ConnoisseurSee all my reviews

Whilst being a slow burn first episode, this new series shows promise. Given its IDW comic book origins, I have high expectations.

The cast are solid, there's a great creepy atmosphere, and a fantastic score to accompany the drama.

8 out of 10.
