Good compelling story, well acted and as a person of a certain age I can relate to the politics and social habits of the period. But I do not remember my childhood as being lived in semi-darkness. Why do producers insist that in the post war forties we all lived in such gloomy, dismal, half-lit half life. Ours was not a well-to-do neighbourhood but our houses were well-lit, warm and welcoming.
I'll skip some obvious plot holes because you are probably waiting for my comments on the sex scenes. Poor old Feef seemed to have trouble with penetrative sex and suggested her boy-friend 'go down' on her. So what! Totally irrelevant to the story line and almost certainly embarrassing to most watchers. Why, why why???
