Trivia

The title of this documentary, "Long Shot," has a double meaning. Crowd footage at a baseball game is likely to be filmed from a distance - the definition of a "long shot" in camerawork parlance. And there was only a very small chance that Catalan's lawyers would be able to find any footage exonerating him - so their defense strategy was figuratively a "long shot." See more »

Quotes

Larry David: Maybe, I don't know, every few years, somebody will bring it up or something and I'll tell the story. Maybe I'll tell it at a party, how I got a guy off of a murder. You know. Um. Impress a date with it, I don't know.

Incredible

On the front of the law library building near to where I live there is the famous quote, written in both French and English - It says "Leave no stone unturned". The French is "Remuer ciel et terre", literally, "shake up the sky and the earth". What happens in this documentary is closer to the sky than the earth. It is perhaps the alignment of stars, something inexplicable intertwined with something very human. If you're reading this you probably already know it's a documentary about a man who was accused of a murder. I won't say anything further because it really is quite the story, of people and actions that came together, intentionally and unintentionally.
