At 05:30, we can hear the news anchor mentioning a fire in a chemical plant and subsequent problems on the waterways. He's referring to an actual event: The Sandoz chemical spill (in German known as the fire of Schweizerhalle). A fire destroyed a chemical plant on 01. Nov. 1986. Several toxic substances were flushed into the nearby Rhine river when the fire fighters tried to extinguish the fire. The aquatic life in the river was severely damaged for several years.

Goofs
In this and other episodes, the German word for "Missing" is spelled "Vermisst" on 1986 posters and in newspaper headlines. Before the 1996 spelling reform, however, the word was spelled "Vermißt" in Germany, unless a non-German typewriter was used or the word was written in capitals only.

Yes, shocking dubbing

Charlesponchon (March 21) is not wrong about this. The appalling quality of the dubbing is beginning to make this interesting series borderline unwatchable. If you switch on the subtitles, the dubbers and the subtitlers are using different translations. I will try to carry on, but I gave up on 'The Frozen Dead;' because of this issue. For those who are struggling, as I am, to keep track of who is who and who is related to whom across the 1986 to 2019 time-shift, I recommend the Wikipedia entry on the series.
