Great, but almost ruined by narration
23 September 2017 | by See all my reviews

I like every kind of documentary, especially science. By means of content and information, "The Planets" are really great. Most of it is up to date and a lot of the stuff was also new to me. So far so good.

In another review, somebody mentioned the narrator. I could tell what he meant right from the beginning, but it did not bother me that much to be honest. That drastically changed with the "Saturn" episode. Suddenly it seems that the narrator is totally in love with hearing his own voice. Sometimes his narration felt like he was singing.

He has a good and pleasant voice, have to give him that. But that pretentious way of over-pronouncing words just to sound sonorous has reached a point where it is distracting and actually unbearable.
