Storyline

Businessman Mark Adler is found dead in a cryotherapy facility associated with his formerly ailing rugby team, the Causton Lions, coached by Bill Viner, a former player his age, whose career was wrecked by a knee injury. Barnaby and Winter look into club rivalry, notably problematic star player Danny Wickham, and Belinda Braun and her grandson Dominic, who works as innovative festive pastry chef in the former family bakery now owned by Mark's widow Samantha. Goofs

As is common, matters automotive seem to slip through the net. Debbie Gallagher drives what is clearly a green, MK3 Golf. When it is checked, it is described as a pre '98 model (which is correct, it's a 'P' reg) but then they say it's a 4th generation. Nope, definitely a MK3 regardless of how you view it. See more »

Quotes

[a murder victim has been found frozen solid in a cryotherapy chamber that has been cooled to -150 deg C]
Fleur Perkins: I'll know more when I get him to the lab. Just don't expect anything quickly.
DCI John Barnaby: Because of under-staffing, budget cuts and a ridiculous workload?
Fleur Perkins: Cos I'll need to defrost him first.

Frozen balls

Really, this deserves a rating of absolute zero, rather than 1 out of 10: it's such a flat and unaffecting affair.

What must the people who work on this think as they're making it? Surely it must be soul-destroying to work on such rubbish?

ITV would be better off repeating the stronger episodes from earlier seasons than continuing to churn out such drivel. I'm sure this used to have interesting characters and real charm -- but not anymore.
