Mariam and The Sun" is an Egyptian short movie that features the success story of a female student in a community school in upper Egypt who faced challenges to stay in school. Due to the great role played by the community school and the class teacher, who supported the girl during hard times, the girl's future was positively affected. The movie also portraits the decision-making process of parents (especially fathers) to educate their children. This short movie has been developed under the leadership of the National Council for Women in collaboration with UN Women Egypt, with the generous support of the Embassy of Japan and produced by "Axeer"; an Egyptian production agency.
