The horrors and isolation of being a social media influencer run rampant when a collection of YouTube and Instagram stars soon discover there are things scarier than thousands of teenagers armed with phones asking for selfies.
Not being one to watch a lot of horror movies, I wished this film had been categorized a mystery/teen drama rather to include a wider audience. I saw aspiring director Caryn Waechter's previous film "Sisterhood of the Night" address the consequences of today's teenagers' addictive interaction with social media. In "Deadcon" Waechter went a step further to delve into the perils of technology and its effect on young minds. The film moves fast with a skillful camera, and its suspense keeps the viewer at the edge of the seat, trying to make sense of it all. Unfortunately, with the sketchy storyline and the end out of nowhere, I can only give the movie a much lower rating than the talented director really deserves. Looking forward to the next one with a better script!
