i am intrigued

First impressions...

VERY stylised, very put together, very Sam Esmail. The cinematography is excellent, the acting is really good (though i hope it gets better), and i am really digging the story so far and i am actually interested to see where the rest of this show goes. Just wanted to put my initial thoughts out there because it is a show that really makes you just want to talk about it in many ways. One of the things that struck me the most to begin with was how beautiful it was, the lighting & the colour grading is mouth watering. It is so clean and it is absolutely gorgeous, i love great cinematography and Sam Esmail knows how to do it right. The camera work, very eery and very documentary-esque, but also carries a lot of character too, often staying in one position and not really wavering from it, but when it does, it serves a big purpose and is very slick when doing so. I also loved how the aspect ratio changed when the show transitioned from the past to the present, i thought that was a really unique way to show the difference between the two timelines. I really like it so far i think Julia Roberts is very very good, haven't really seen her in much else but in what i have seen her in she is a VERY competent actress.

The entire cast is SOLID, so far there are no weak characters (though Rainey so far is quite stereotypical) though it is very hard to judge from the first episode, but so far very good introductions for the characters, you can tell a lot about them from the get go and i really like how they already feel familiar. The episodes are very short which was a surprise as Sam Esmail's previous series 'Mr Robot' had very long episodes, most of them stretching into an hour, but i guess it felt a lot less dense as a result and therefore a lot more approachable, but sadly it does mean it goes by pretty fast.

Also, i can sense a little bit of sexual tension between Walter and Heidi, is that just me or??....

I like how it lets you into what is happening right off the bat and doesn't waste time getting into the story, but yet it holds back on a lot of details that make us want to keep watching, there is an underlying tension that the show has and that undercurrent of drama and mystery is really what brings dimension to the show and is what is keeping me hooked. Something happened and i hope that they slowly reveal it throughout the show. The writing is really engaging and so it feels like the story is really trying to grab you which is always great. There is A LOT of potential here and i hope this show uses it effectively, it would be a shame to a show like this flop for reasons that could easily be resolved, but for now, I like it, and i am definitely going to keep watching.
